Viva Goals is retired. Here is how to move on.

What happened

• December 5, 2024: Microsoft announced the retirement (message center post MC949603) and stopped new feature work.
• December 31, 2025: Viva Goals was retired. Access ended then, or earlier if a license expired first.
• Replacement: none. Microsoft says it will not fold Viva Goals into another product and points customers to third-party OKR tools through their Microsoft representative.

Getting your data out

Microsoft documented three export routes: the Microsoft Graph API (goals export jobs), Excel export and PowerPoint export. If you still hold an export, keep the Excel version. It is the easiest to load into any new tool.

Where Viva Goals teams are going

Choose stratbox if

• Viva Goals gave you OKRs, but the goals still slipped because the work behind them was not defined or checked.
• You want each goal linked to written procedures and a named owner who answers for them.
• You use Microsoft Teams. stratbox connects to Teams and uses your channels as evidence for each assessment.

Choose another tool if

• You want a like-for-like OKR replacement with check-ins and alignment trees. WorkBoard, Rhythms or Perdoo are closer to what you had.

What stratbox is not

• Not a drop-in Viva Goals replacement. We are a different model: goals, owners, procedures and assessments.
• No automatic Viva Goals import today. In the pilot we help you load goals from your Excel export.
